Tesla Optimus is a general-purpose humanoid robot program built on Tesla's Full Self-Driving AI stack, using the same neural-network-based end-to-end perception and control architecture as its vehicles. Optimus Gen 2 (2023) and Gen 3 (in production ramp, 2026) use Tesla-designed actuators and custom silicon (FSD chip). As of mid-2026 all deployments are internal at Fremont and Gigafactory Texas for training-data generation; no external commercial customer has been announced.
